Géo Ham, born Georges Hamel in 1900 in Laval, France, was a renowned painter and illustrator celebrated for his depictions of automobiles and aircraft. The 1933 Monaco Grand Prix was a significant event in the racing calendar, attracting top drivers and showcasing the glamour and prestige associated with Monaco's automotive heritage.

Géo Ham

Géo Ham, born Georges Hamel (1900–1972), was a French illustrator and artist celebrated for his dynamic depictions of aviation, automobiles, and motorsports. Born in Laval, France, Ham showed an early talent for art and trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His career gained prominence in the 1920s and 1930s as he became the go-to illustrator for aviation and automobile magazines. Ham's work, characterised by its energy and precision, often graced the covers of publications like L'Illustration and Le Miroir des Sports. He also created posters for major events, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Grand Prix races, solidifying his legacy as a master of transportation art.
