Ala Littoria - Linee Aeree Italiane, 1934, by Guglielmo Sansoni Tato

This bold Art Deco poster promotes Ala Littoria, Italy's national airline during the Fascist era. Against a vivid blue background, the angular forms of a red triangular tailfin and sleek grey aircraft wing dominate the composition, creating a sense of aerodynamic efficiency and modernity. The airline's name appears in striking red and black block text. The clean, geometric lines and dynamic perspective convey progress and movement, typical of Futurist design.

Guglielmo Sansoni, known as Tato, was a key figure in the Futurist movement, which celebrated speed, technology, and the machine age. His work often reflected the Fascist regime's emphasis on modernisation and national pride, with aviation serving as a powerful symbol of technological progress. Ala Littoria, established in 1934, connected Italian cities and colonial territories, aligning with the regime’s imperial ambitions.
