Brak Liqueur, 1937, by Otto Baumberger

This striking poster features a bold, minimalist composition with a prominent black letter “B” shaped into the form of a chalice or goblet, set against a stark white background. Below the goblet, the brand name “Brak Liqueur” appears in vivid red, creating a strong contrast and visual balance. The clean, geometric design and sharp typography reflect a modernist aesthetic, communicating elegance and sophistication while maintaining simplicity.

Otto Baumberger, one of Switzerland’s most influential graphic designers, was a pioneer of modern poster art. Known for his versatility and mastery of typography, Baumberger’s work often merged fine art with commercial design. This poster, created in 1937, exemplifies the functional elegance of Swiss modernism, a movement that sought to convey information clearly and effectively.
