This 1954 poster by French artist Géo Ham promotes the 41st Grand Prix de l'Automobile Club de France, held on 4 July at the Reims-Gueux circuit. The artwork vividly captures the intensity of the race, featuring a dynamic portrayal of Formula One cars speeding down the track, with the leading vehicle prominently displayed in the foreground.
The 1954 French Grand Prix was notable for marking Mercedes-Benz's return to Grand Prix racing with their W196 cars. The race witnessed a dominant performance by Mercedes drivers Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling, who finished first and second respectively.
Géo Ham, born Georges Hamel in 1900 in Laval, France, was renowned for his precise and dynamic illustrations of automobiles and aircraft. His passion for speed extended beyond the canvas; he participated in the 1934 24 Hours of Le Mans race, driving a 2-litre Derby. Throughout his career, Ham's artwork graced numerous posters for prestigious events, including the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
