Mi Hermano Fidel, 1978, by Ñiko

The poster for Mi Hermano Fidel features a minimalist design dominated by a dark, expansive blue background. A stylised Cuban flag and a golden laurel leaf sit at the lower right, evoking themes of nationalism and achievement. The bold red and white lettering of the film title, paired with its stark composition, reflects the documentary's powerful narrative.

The documentary Mi Hermano Fidel, directed by Santiago Álvarez, is a Cuban production that focuses on an intimate and ideological portrayal of Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution. The film centres on Castro’s personal and political relationship with Salvador Allende, the democratically elected socialist president of Chile. This poster was created in 1978 by Antonio Pérez González, widely known as Ñiko, a Cuban artist celebrated for his contributions to revolutionary graphic design. His work often combined simplicity with strong symbolism, aligning with the cultural and political ethos of post-revolutionary Cuba.
